7th graders were treated to a bus tour of several historical sites in town during their social studies classes today. The Wintonbury Historical Society sponsored the trip and also acted as tour guides. Students got to see the Gillette House, Bissell House, the Old Farm School, and toured the Filley House. This tour served as the real world application for the Bloomfield history project students recently completed in Mr. Taylor's and Ms. Calabro's classes.

The School to Career office hosted an engaging workshop led by Mr. Eddie Brown and Ms. Symone Rose from Hartford Communities That Care, Inc. (HCTC) on “Level Up! Your High School Prep Playbook.” Designed for middle school students in grades 7-8, the session empowered them to confidently prepare for high school and future career opportunities. Students learned how developing strong study habits, managing their time, and exploring interests through electives and extracurriculars play a major role in their long-term success. These early actions help build essential academic and social skills that guide them in choosing the right high school courses. The workshop emphasized that being proactive now sets the foundation for college, technical training, or a direct career pathway. Overall, it encouraged students to enter high school with a clear plan and an understanding of how their choices today shape their tomorrow.
