Visual Arts
Each
teacher will focus on a different discipline of art (drawing and
painting, sculpture and ceramics, and printmaking) for one marking
period.
Carmen Arace Intermediate School offers a variety of art
mediums that range from drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, computer
graphics, and collage/mixed media. The elements of art and principles
of design are emphasized into each lesson. It is our belief that if
students choose relevant subject matter, they will be more interested
and invested in the final product. We encourage the students to open
their minds to a world of imagination and creativity. This creativity
expands beyond the single brush stroke of the page to vibrant young
minds.
General Music
General Music at
Carmen Arace offers each student a chance to learn music through a
variety of different platforms such as guitar, keyboard, music
technology, and percussion instruments. Students will study the genres
twentieth century music such as folk, blues, early rock n roll, and
reggae.
Music is a large part of the development of our students’
academic development. Students with a positive attitude and a strong
work ethic can achieve an appreciation for music as well as a greatness
within themselves.
Fantastic Festivals
Every
year the Chorus participates in a Fantastic Festivals Music Festival.
We usually participate sometime in the end of May or beginning of June.
This well-established festival serves as a valuable assessment for the
students as well as the conductor. This is first and foremost an
educational experience. We have done quite well in years past and are
excited about this year’s festival.
