Dear Carmen Arace Middle School
Families:
As the proud principal of
CAMS, I want to extend a warm welcome to you as we begin a new school year. We
are a school community committed to providing a rigorous curriculum in
nurturing a shared responsibility to deliver a 21st-century education.
Our goal is to provide a safe
and affirming environment that closes the academic gap and prepares every
student for college and meaningful careers.
I would like to share some
exciting news about our school and key indicators that we are moving in the right
direction:
o Highest PSAT gains in the district last year (+16 in Reading and +22 in Math between Fall and Spring)
o Double-digit gains in Reading on the
2018-2019 Smarter Balanced Assessment (SBA)
o 95% attendance rate in 2018-2019
o Enrollment is up 17% and growing
o Advanced course offerings
o Partnerships - UConn Pre-engineering program supports math and science instruction
o Concert Band and Chorus received a Gold rating at the 2019 Fantastic Festivals
o The Percussion Ensemble received a Platinum rating and First Place at the 2019 Fantastic Festivals
o Mr. Marcus Jennings, 8th grade Social Studies teacher, was selected as Bloomfield’s Teacher of the Year
o More and more former students of Bloomfield Public Schools are returning to the district to help support our current students
